Benijofar is located inland in the southern Costa Blanca region of Spain and although inland it’s close enough to the many fantastic beaches here plus, it’s far enough away so you’re not in the hustle and bustle of some of the busier resorts. It is a charming village with a church and pretty square, there are plenty of places of interest to visit, such as, the Casa de Cultura where concerts and performances take place throughout the year. Market day takes place near the church on Tuesdays where you can buy fresh local produce, clothes and a variety of trinkets. Ideally located close to the tourist resorts of Guardamar del Segura and Torrevieja it’s a tranquil haven for those who prefer somewhere a little quieter in a calm and relaxed environment. Popular nearby towns are Formentera del Segura, Ciudad Quesada, Algorfa, Rojales, Almoradi, San Fulgencio and Heredera where there are a number of shops and extra facilities. The area is 4,400 sq km (1.699 sq mi) where one can enjoy a restful holiday away from the noisy crowds making it ideal for families especially and couples. Benijofar is located just 10km from the beaches of Guardamar del Segura and around 12km from Torrevieja.
Benijofar has a choice of two airports, Alicante is the busiest to the north and the Murcia-San Javier airport is to the south both are around 30 minutes by car to the centre of Benijofar via shuttle bus, hire car or taxi transfers. The average temperature is 27°C and the climate is typically Mediterranean with approximately 3000 hours of sunshine per year it’s the ideal location for families, couples and groups of friends to enjoy sunshine filled peaceful holiday.
The nearest beaches to Benijofar are about 15 minutes away by car and are some of the most beautiful beaches on the Southern Costa Blanca can be found at Guardamar del Segura and Torrevieja. It is a great location to enjoy a walking holiday from as there are some superb trails along the banks of the Segura River serving up picturesque views, you can also drive to the town of Rojales and then walk to the village of Formentera. In Benijofar you can also find walking and cycling routes and the three crosses viewpoint. If you love nature parks and nature reserves a must visit to the Cañada Marsa Park and El Secano Park is a lovely day out and they are open all year round. There are several gyms in the area, one in Quesada and one in Rojales and the Padel Tennis centre which offers a wide range of sporting activities although the green trek next to the River Segura is an excellent route for a jog or a cycle ride. Golfers will be delighted as there are several golf courses close by and numerous golf courses on the Southern Costa Blanca. Benijofar is closest to the La Finca Golf Course in Algorfa and the La Marquesa Golf and Country Club in Ciudad Quesada. The ever popular water parks can be found in nearby Rojales and Torrevieja.
There are some lovely restaurants offering a full range of culinary delights from Spanish Tapas to international dishes. Head to the Plaza Constitucion for an evening out where there are many bars and the nightlife is lively, if you want to dance well into the early hours there is a disco and karaoke party where you can dress up or dress down and really let your hair down.
