Beautiful Finestrat is located in the Marina Baixa in Alicante in mainland Spain, its just 12 km (7.5 miles) from the popular resort of Benidorm and its also just a few minutes drive from major cities such as Villajoyosa, San Juan, Altea and Calpe. This delightful area offers escapism at its very best in a quiet location as the village nestles on the mountainside of Puig Campana affording picturesque views of the mountains and out to the coast and Mediterranean. This lovely village has a typical Moorish feel to it, with colourfully painted houses and narrow cobbled streets adorned with plant pots filled with beautiful blooms that line the streets. The wonderful village of Finestrat has retained its natural beauty and charm and it’s literally bursting with character, culture and many places of interest to visit. Its ancient monuments depict its Moorish history very well and these ancient buildings include the 13th century Castell de Finestrat (castle) the 18th century Church of Saint Bartholomew, La Torre (the watchtower) the Hermitage Crist de Remei and The Font de Moli. Visitors who appreciate history will love this area its rich in culture and a delightful area to sit with a cold beer or glass of chilled wine and watch the world go by. Many visitors prefer to simply stay in the village it’s so pretty but if you want to get out and about there are plenty of beaches and other activities to keep you amused. Cala Finestrat is a beach resort located just three km away from bustling Benidorm here you can sunbathe and swim but it is quite a lively area it is suitable for families, couples and groups of friends looking for plenty of facilities, activities and amenities. If you want busy, busy, busy then go to the one of the many Benidorm beaches. If you prefer a more serene and calm beach setting then head to the beach at La Cala it’s quiet and relaxing where you can immerse yourself in a good book and not be disturbed. The beach is clean and inviting with golden sand, ideal for the little ones and safe for sunbathing and swimming. There are some delightful little cafes, bars and restaurants perfect for families along the promenade.
For a fun day out visit The Terre Mitica and Terra Natura theme parks, Aqualandia water park and Mundomar marine and exotic Animal Park. There are water sports galore and golf is a popular sport here with the Real Faula golf club close by offering two superb golf courses. The La Marina shopping complex with its huge range of shops is nearby and during the summer months, there are many arts and crafts markets on the promenade.
There is a superb selection of bars and restaurants in Finestrat where you can enjoy delicious local Spanish dishes and international cuisine is also on the menu in a relaxed atmosphere. For a more vibrant evening out Benidorm is the place to go. Dance yourself dizzy at one of the many discos and nightclubs until dawn.
